MemberMothra LarvaeAug-09-2018 9:16 AMI became a fan when I accidentally saw Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah on TV when I was 10. Then came other movies either on TV or VHS. With the advent of DVDs and internet, I started checking more and more out of Big G's rich filmography. I live in Poland, so no-Toho-on-the-big-screen, but I really liked seeing Gareth Edward's Godzilla in cinema and I'm impatiently waiting for the sequel. I'm very happy that I found your forum.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-13-2018 8:35 AMWhat made me a godzilla fan? It was when I was like 8, and my grandpa put on All Monsters Attack. I barely remember any of it, but after that, I just liked godzilla. Then, a few months ago, I just started watching all the showa and heisei movies on starz and other movie apps/websites. Here is my list of every godzilla movie I have watched so far(In my memory)
Mothra vs. Godzilla
Ghidorah, the three headed monster
Invasion of the Astro Monster
All Monsters Attack
Terror of Mechagodzilla
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
Godzilla(1998) (I like the movie)
Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
GMK
Tokyo SOS
Final Wars
Godzilla(2014)
Shin Godzilla
Monster Planet
City on the Edge of Battle

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-02-2018 1:42 PMIn about 2008, I remember watching Godzilla Final Wars. The action, the diverse roster of monsters, godzilla himself, all of it was amazing. Ever since then I have read a bunch of books about the history about the making of godzilla, and watched most of the movies. But, the monsters are definitely the reason I love the godzilla franchise so much. Their sheer power and size was captivating, and I can't wait to see what new monsters appear in 2019.

MemberGiganSep-03-2018 9:37 AMI became a Godzilla fan when I first watched Godzilla Power Hour, then about months or maybe a year later I rented Godzilla vs Monster Zero. I think I was 6 or 7 around this time, then came 1998 and I became a huge fan of Zilla, because I'm a huge Jurassic Park fan. Then around 2004-2005 my uncle sent us his Godzilla movie collection so me and my brother started watching them, we got all the way up to Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters.
Then I rewatched Godzilla 1998, While i'm still a huge fan of Zilla. I didn't really like the overall story of the movie, well anyways.... In 2014, me and my brother restarted our Godzilla marathon in conjuncture to the release of Legendary's Godzilla. We finished the marathon and boy, I love Godzilla 2014. Been a full fledged Godzilla fan ever since.

MemberBaragonDec-07-2018 10:28 AMFor Me, It was definitely 2014. But way before it came out, I had seen pictures of this giant dinosaur, with it's back lit in a light blue color, with lightning all around it. For the longest time, I thought it was some sort of Demon. Then, as I later found out that it was Godzilla. My first actual movie that I watched was Godzilla vs Destoroyah, since I had seen about a million videos about it on YouTube. That was one hell of a movie, and I really think it helped shape the growing G-Fan I am today.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2018 12:57 AMMy first Godzilla movie was Godzilla 2000 when it was released in America when I was a kid. My uncle was a big Godzilla, Gamera, and Ultraman fan growing up so when he saw there was a new, big screen Godzilla movie being released in the US, he showed it to me and my brothers. From the very first opening scene where they're tracking Godzilla, find him, piss him off, and he chases them through the tunnel to his headstrong charge into Orga's open mouth before blowing him up from the inside, we were all hooked. My uncle told us it was a good Godzilla movie, but nothing like the classics. That summer we all watched the original monster movies and since then have all been huge fans. My younger brother still texts me from home whenever any new info comes out about new movies and I even drove home this summer so we could watch City on the Edge of Battle together when it came out. I'm a fan of Godzilla cause it's been a part of my family since I was a kid

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2018 1:01 AMI was only 4 years old when my older brother introduced me to the King of the Monsters himself in my first movie. Godzilla 1985. I grew up liking dinosaurs and seeing one that was big, bad, and first breathing at that time was a dream come true. Since then I've gone on to having the whole movie collection and more collectibles in the way.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-01-2019 4:27 PMI thank the discovery of the entire saga thanks to G2000 and the infamous G98, and i´ve never thought that most of the classic Showa, the entire Heisei and Millenium movies would be so much fun to watch, and some of them where actually meant to be serious movies, the only serious ones for me are G54, G84, G vs B 89, G vs D 95, ShinG and G14, the others are super fun monster flicks with consistant storytelling and fight choreographys (mostly).
So, inconclusion, i like the G movies for the storytelling and action, and the messages behind it

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-01-2019 8:39 PMWhen I was 4 my dad was going to watch Hockey Night In Canada on CBC but couldn't because of the NHL lockout at the time so he couldn't watch it. Instead however, CBC aired Mothra vs Godzilla instead, and with me being obsessed with dinosaurs at the time, my dad recorded the movie, and showed me the next day. I watched it, and instantly fell in love. As I watched it though, my dad got up, amd headed to my room and apparently began searching through my dinosaur toys when he pulled out this green dinosaur toy that had silver spikes. He told me that he remembered buying me some dinosaur toys at the local Flea market, and one of the dinosaurs I picked up turned out to be a Godzilla. So thats how I became a fan.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-06-2019 4:50 PMWhen I was growing up I always have been into dragons and dinosaurs. I had a room all to myself upstairs, so one time I was grounded from tv, I waited for my parents and sibling to go to sleep, when they did I turned on my Toto low volume and was surfing through the channels and came across the 1993 Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2. It honestly made me cry. I loved everything about Godzilla and have been rooting for him ever since. And the more movies i watched just made it more so. Except Godzilla 2000... it never happened.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-08-2019 10:55 AMI have been a Godzilla fan for as long as I can remember. My fondest memories are of watching Godzilla movie marathons on tv and searching video stores for new Godzilla movies. I remember that the first four Godzilla movies I got were Godzilla King of the Monsters, King Kong VS Godzilla, Godzilla VS Megalon and Godzilla VS Gigan on VHS. I still have these tapes. I would also record Godzilla movie marathons whenever they were on. I still have one of these tapes. It was a marathon on the sci-fi channel, showing Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla VS Spacegodzilla, Godzilla VS Destoroyah and Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla. I have been a Godzilla fan my entire life. It makes me so happy that great Godzilla movies are still being made. I loved Godzilla 2014 and Shin Godzilla and I can't wait for Godzilla King of the Monsters later this year!

MemberBaragonJan-08-2019 3:29 PMThe first giant monster movie I ever saw... at the age of 3 mind you... was The Giant Behemoth... and in 1970... for me that was scary... but I watched it all the way through to the end and I was hooked on giant monsters from then on. How I became a Godzilla fan... was due to the first movie I ever watched with Godzilla in it... Ghidorah - The Three Headed Monster. (English version). It aired on a Saturday at 1pm and it was a show on NBC called Monster Movie Matinee... the host wore an eye patch and there was a coffin near by with an actual hand hanging out of it and it moved around and there was a voice from the coffin accompanying the hand movements. Bottom line... If it was not for Ghidorah having it's own movie... I might not have learned about Godzilla... let alone be a fan. So that makes Godzilla King Of The Monsters 2019... extra special.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2019 1:00 AMGodzilla has been my favorite “thing” in my life my whole life. Ever since my father sat me in front of “Final Wars” as a child I was infatuated with this giant fire breathing monster that kicked ass everywhere he went. I saw every movie there was about him since then, and have done endless research and invested so much time to understand and enjoy this thing that facinated me so much. Amidst my new obsession as a child, I would constantly pretend all my toys were the strongest and coolest things that ever existed ever. But I knew Godzilla was important when I realized he had become dominant over every one I’ve had. He was “and is” the strongest, most powerful and best force there was and ever will be. This childish obsession grew into a serious appreciation for the work of Tomoyuki Tanaka’s creation and it’s backstory, meaning, and evolution throught time. There was never a time I did not like Godzilla, he was so powerful and good (most of the time), and the idea and essence of him amazed and inspired me. A prominent piece of my character is the fact that I’m an artist, and another is the way I think philosophically and how my mind operates. These are both influenced and enhanced by this beautiful creation of natural balance that inspired my mind and his strong and sharp form combined with a will to protect the planet that stylized and evolved my own artwork. I love Godzilla because it connects with me on such a deep, personal level and provided such a rich and pure source of ideas in my mind and heart. I seriously was brought to tears by the 2014 Gareth Edwards film when I saw him on that big IMAX screen. After years of growing up he was finally back, I never get that emotion during anything, but I did there. I couldn’t be more excited for him to prove why he’s still the king in 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”. My dream is to one day work for Legendary Studios and be appart of bringing this creation back into the world the best way Godzilla deserves to be. Here’s to my dream coming true.
Mall Hail the King.
